Artist Statement

Working predominantly in cut and layered paper, Christina explores the interplay of two and three dimensions, light and shadow, strength and fragility. Her most recognizable works are elevation maps of the BC coast and depictions of trees and their component parts: constructed in earth toned layers of paper, and spaced in low relief. At times minimalist and abstract, and at other times detailed and accurate, her work invites viewers to lean in close and consider their own relationship to this part of the world.

Christina’s style is influenced by over two decades spent working as a graphic designer, with an early focus on paper goods and print design. Her principle aim is to produce a body of work that is both quiet and captivating.
